Our students are diving into the world of dissection prep with a unique twist—the "Pickle Autopsy"! 🥒 Today, they rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on experience examining their "patients," complete with some "injuries" to investigate. Using impressive academic language and scientific skills, students analyzed their findings and put their learning to work in this engaging, interactive activity. 🧑‍🔬👩‍🔬 It's incredible to see them applying what they've learned in such a fun and meaningful way. Great job, future scientists! Our Plant Science students had an amazing, hands-on experience today with an onsite field assessment! After diving deep into soil studies in class, they put their knowledge to the test, collaborating with the local NRCS office and a soil conservationist. Students evaluated 40 unique soil characteristics—from measuring slopes and analyzing soil color to examining structure and beyond. This incredible experience not only strengthens their learning but also gives them a taste of what it’s like to work as a Soil Scientist! We’re so proud of their hard work and enthusiasm in the field! ----- ¡Nuestros estudiantes de Ciencias de las Plantas tuvieron una experiencia práctica increíble hoy con una evaluación de campo en el sitio! Después de estudiar a fondo los suelos en clase, pusieron a prueba sus conocimientos en colaboración con la oficina local de NRCS y un conservacionista de suelos. 🇺🇸 Honoring Our Veterans on Veterans Day 🇺🇸 Today, we proudly came together as a school community to honor the service and sacrifices of our veterans. Our High School Student Council hosted an assembly this morning, featuring a message from Mr. Shane Simpson and a veteran roll call with Mr. Shane Stephens. This afternoon, our Elementary Student Council continued the tribute, with Mr. Byron Jimmerson as the guest speaker. Thank you to our talented Clarke Chamber Choir for their beautiful renditions of the National Anthem and the Armed Forces Medley and the 5th-grade choir for singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic. 🎉 Clarke Middle School wrapped up the first quarter with an exciting assembly today, celebrating the achievements and hard work of our students and staff! 🎉 Students and staff gathered to honor our Leaders of the Quarter (school-wide) and Students of the Quarter (by grade), recognizing those who truly shined this quarter! We also cheered on our fall sports teams for their dedication and accomplishments. The assembly ended with an unforgettable teachers vs. students basketball game, where both sides brought their A-game! 🏀💪 After a nail-biting finish, the teachers claimed victory, but the real winners are our students who gave their all this quarter! Clarke High School will be hosting its annual College & Career Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Grades will rotate throughout the morning between exploring the exhibitor fair and attending information sessions providing advice for college and career readiness. 8th grade students will also have the opportunity to talk to colleges and local businesses about future careers in the afternoon. All bus routes will run on hard surface routes only on Tuesday, November 5th, and Wednesday, November 6th. Bus drivers have coordinated with families on gravel roads for adjusted pick-up and drop-off locations.
